Question: i am at 4th day after being diagnosed as having chickenpox. since yesterday I have throat irritation. can I take cough syrup for relief? please advice

Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Symptomatic measures like cough syrup can be taken for chicken pox symptoms.
Varicella pneumonia, following chickenpox, develops more commonly in adults (up to 20% of cases).
I believe that you are also on antiviral drug.Acyclovir or valacyclovir or famciclovir for 5–7 days is recommended for adults with chickenpox of >24 h duration.
