Question : I swallowed a bite of chocolate cake earlier, about 10 minutes ago. It hurt, like a lump in my throat when I did. fairly painful, but it went down. My question is did it hurt because it went into my lungs , down th wrong pipe? It wasn't a choking feeling really just like swallowing a large pill. It doesn't feel like it is stuck and I am breathing fine.

                                    Brief Answer:
No, if you did not choke, it did not enter trachea
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Do not worry, if you did not choke then the chocolate did not enter your trachea.
Chocolate will melt very fast inside out body, since you swallowed a hard bit of chocolate, it would have hurt you initially, but there is nothing to worry, it would go down your food pipe and into the stomach.
I hope this answers your question.
Kind regards

It was actually chocolate cake, but I didn't cough or choke. It just hurt. Throat is still a little sore.
