Question : I'm having severe throat pain (infection) accompanied by mild cold for last two weeks. Consulted a physician 10 days back and he prescribed Cefixime 200mg two times a day for 5 days. Was better when I was under antibiotics. But as soon as the antibiotics course is over, I started feeling severe pain in my throat and cant even swallow anything. Feel a little feverish too. Am not taking anything cold. I'm gargling salt water 2-3 times a day. Please advice.

Brief Answer: Continue antibiotic for 5 more days Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for your days. I would consider the infection is under-treated. Do continue the antibiotic for another 5 days. Also do gargle with antiseptic solution like CHLORHEXIDINE thrice daily after food instead of salt water. Avoid taking cold foods or drinks. If the symptoms get severe do take Tab Bendaryl twice daily after food. Wish you good health. Regards,
