Question : throat started hurting while swallowing this past monday. On tuesday I woke up with a white patch on the bottom of my uvula and the doctor told me it was an apthous ulcer. When I woke up the next morning the white patch on uvula was gone and their was a white patch on the back of my throat. I proceeded to gargle my mouth out with salt water and the white patch on back of throat immediately disappeared. Since wednesday my throat still hurts swallowing and the pain is even worse if I sneeze. I have no other symptoms and no new white patches have developed

Detailed Answer:
thanks for your query, i have gone through your query. the white patch cannot be apthous ulcer and it will not heal within one day. the white patch could be secondary to fungal infection like candida(pseudomembranous type) or it can be because of the burn by consuming hot food or drinks or it can be apthous ulcer covered with debris or slough.
consult a oral physician to rule out these two conditions. the throat pain could be because of bacterial infection also.
if i am your treating doctor i would have suggested you to take topical analgesic and anesthtics like XXXXXXX gel. and topical antifungal agents like candid mouth paint. if it is bacterial infection then i would have started with a antibiotic course.
advised to do saline gargling, or use chlorhexidine mouth washes.
