What Causes Throbbing Sensation In Ear With Pain?

Question: I have consistant throbing in my left ear. Can hear my heart beat very loudly. It wakes me up at night, it is sometimes so loud. There is also pain and sometimes drainage.
Brief Answer:
This seems to be an ear infection. Get the ear examined.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. With the pain, throbbing and drainage, this seems to be an ear infection.
2. The throbbing will usually be due to fluid build-up in the middle ear following sinus problems. An ear examination and hearing tests can detect any hearing loss, eardrum perforation, infection or fluid build-up.
3. Antibiotic ear drops may not work due to fungal infection, wax or an ear drum perforation. Your ear examination results will decide the further course of treatment.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
