What Causes Tightness In Chest With Involuntary Cough And Blood In Sputum?

Question: Last Thursday my daughter went to urgent care for tightness in her chest she is 22. Doctor took X-ray and saw nothing told her to rest that probably panic attack Fri morning radiologist called her and said she has a small nodule and he thinks it nothing. But you can go and get checked again in three months...... Last night she took her husband to hospital because in shower he involuntary cough up some brownish blood that slipped down drain. Then called for my daughter and she said to try to cough and that time his sputum had red blood so they went to er and blood work and chest X-Ray was clear. They sent him home with antibiotics z pack ... About a month ago they had a wild bird in there house that pooped all over there bathroom. Do you think there could be a link ? Also XXXXXXX has a what the doctors say a salva gland that is able to see under her jaw bone the radiologist said its like a herniated gland that's not a problem that's been 10years ago. I guess my worry there is cancer and the nodule be related..... XXXXXXX has av node entry heart issue. The only other thing I can think to tell you is XXXXXXX has the bar birth control in her arm.

Please do not worry. The so called non significant nodules on xrays usually do not cause symptoms and are very very unlikely to be cancerous.
The cause of blood in cough can be varied and without symptoms and a negative xray it is most likely non serious in nature and the treatment prescribed(antibiotics ) is reasonable.
More over i donot think it is related to wild bird incident as just a single exposure causing bird transmitted infection is unlikely.
Ideal approach in your daughter's case will be to repeat the xray after a months period or so .
If the nodule increases in size , then a CT scan and a biopsy will be warranted. But as of now for all practical purposes, it is non cancerous.
