Hello
I have studied your case.
There is possibility of cervical disc bulge leading to tingling numbness in your finger and arm.

Thank you, Dr. XXXXXXX for your reply. I suffer from lower back pain and sciatica and have been diagnosed with spinal stenosis. I've had a series of shots in my back to relieve pain but so far, same.

Is it possible the tingling might be related to carpal tunnel? I had surgery in 2007 in my other hand (right) and I remember symptoms were somewhat similar. Thank you again.

Hello again,

Yes this can be due to carpal tunnel also.

You may need clinical examination and EMG-NCV study to confirm this.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

One more question please. When I was tested in 2007 for having carpal tunnel, test was done for both hands. They both showed damage but the right one was worse than the left, so doctor did my right hand. I was supposed to have the left one done in a month. However, since I had no discomfort at all, I did not have the surgery. Obviously, it has resurfaced.

My question, though, is about the cervical disc bulge. I've had the back/sciatica pain for over 20 years now. Why all of a sudden would it manifest in my hand?
I'm just curious. Thank you, again, for your time. I promise I won't ask any more questions.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

I have studied your case,

Spinal disc bulge is gradual process.
Once there is tear or weakness of annulus fibrosis [outer cover of disc] then it leads to nerve compression and sudden radicular pain.

Extra jerk to spine can also lead to sudden onset of pain.

Yes as you have old history of carpal tunnel this can also be recurrence of old pain.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
