Question : I have had a lot of tingling in my right hand and arm for some months, I got up a few months ago and could not move my left arm. I felt pain down my left side of my upper back as well. It took, at least a couple of weeks before I could use it. I still can not pick anything heavy up, without pushing my arm to my side, or I will drop the item. I have had tingling in other parts of my body as well, and times of all over pain.
I did see my Primary DR, and he did all the basic tests. All was well, yet my liver counts were up. I seem to bruse no matter what. Please advise,

Brief Answer:
Cervical spondylosis

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

I have read your query and understood your problem.

Do you have blurring of vision, frequent headaches ?

It appears that you have tingling and numbness along with weakness over both your upper limbs which is radiating from the back of your neck up to your hands.

This kind of presentation is in cervical spondylosis or cervical disc prolapse which causes pinching of the nerves which go from the neck to the upper limbs and hands. A physical examination and imaging studies of the neck will help us diagnose this problem. I would urge you see a doctor and plan or the same.

In the meanwhile, kindly avoid bending your neck forward or sitting in bad posture. Kindly follow ergonomics while working. Avoid sleeping with your head on a high pillow. You can perform beck neck stretching exercises to strengthen the muscles in the back of the neck and reduce the symptoms.

Beside this as you have abnormal liver function along with easy bruising we need to check your bleeding and coagulation profile. I will recommend you get them done. Your treating doctor will know about it.

Until we get this sorted, kindly avoid drinking alcohol and taking any unknown medication including pain killers unless prescribed by your doctor. Eat diet rich in plenty of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables so that you get a good supply of vitamin c which is important. Keep well hydrated stay stress free with yoga. Get 6 to 8 hours of sleep daily. Exercise regularly with cardio workout for at least 45 minutes a day. Avoid smoking.

I would advise you to kindly show to an orthopaedic surgeon to get evaluated for a cervical disc prolapse and any other associated conditions which can cause this clinical picture. I hope your doctor has performed the test of Platelet count in your blood. If platelets are less in your blood, got have more chance of bruising easily.

I would like to be followed up after the tests are done.

I hope I have answered your query.

Thanking you.

Dr. Aashish Raghu

The out question about blurring vision and headaches, yes, I brought that up to my Primary, his suggestion was to get my eyes checked. Yet, it feels like the vision is a deeper issue than this. he did check for diabeties, and that did not seem to be an issue. What would be causing the blurry vision?

Thanks, Stress, I care for my mother who has Alzheimer's so that is not easy to avoid. XXXXXXX
