What Causes Tingling Sensation In Hands?

default
Posted on Fri, 16 Oct 2015
Question: What could be causing tingling in my hands? I read that it might be a sign of HIV. I haven't had sex in 6 months and after I had sex 99 days after my sexual encounter I developed strep throat and a rash. The rash went away and then a month later I developed hives. I took a std test because I thought I had symptoms of chylmadia and gonorrhrea. They both came back negative.

Brief Answer:
Testing for HIV only is the way to confirm or rule out the disease

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.

Tingling sensation of the fingers or hands are not specific to HIV disease. Testing for HIV after the window period (12 weeks), is the only thing that can either confirm or rule out HIV. Other predilections about the possibility of HIV (unless in very very late stage of the disease) infection is not reliable at all.
So not to bother about the tingling sensation and go for the test.
