What Causes Tingling Sensation In The Feet And Lower Legs?

Question: I am a 70 yr old male who developed CIPN after Xelox chemo for bowel cancer 6 years ago. I have suffered fromtingling in feet and lower leg, hands slightly affected but motor skills OK. I gave up on medication due to side effects and found exercise gave me most relief and I walk 5-6 miles daily.
My general health is good but recently the tingling has become more intense, my feet very uncomfortable
and I have developed aches in both legs, similar to what I had during chemo. The left leg is particularly bad and it aches in the calf and thigh during sleep and wakes me before resolving in about 30 minutes , the thigh pain is a new experience. Generally the pain is worse at night
I am puzzled as to why the PN has got worse and wonder if this is a common experience. I take ramipril 2x5 mg,bisoprolol 1x2.5 mg and atorvastatin 1x 20 mg daily,I changed my statin from simvastatin 2 months ago with no change. I would like to avoid further deterioration if possible.Any info would be appreciated.

Brief Answer:
Get examined and investigated for restless leg syndrome
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concern.
The possibility seems to be restless leg syndrome which is commonly perceived in night.
You should get iron profile and vitamin D and vitamin B 12 levels.
Nerve conduction testing can be repeated too.
Vitamin and calcium supplements should be added.
Pramipexole is very useful in restless leg syndrome and can be tried.
You should visit to a neurologist.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Do get back to me for further information.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Then get the tests as advised to look for any vitamin deficiency.
NCV should be done to look for any worsening of neuropathy.
Such worsening can be due to thyroid disorder, diabetes, renal dysfunction, myeloma or other paraproteinemias.
