default
Posted on Tue, 17 Mar 2015
Question: Everytime I cough I feel a tingling sensation in my chest area and my upper arm in the back of where my bicep area is. I have a sore throat and hoarseness and have been coughing a lot because I recently just got over being sick this weekend, I'm wondering what this tingling feeling is.

Brief Answer:
This could be due to nerve compression.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I had gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.
The tingling sensation could be due to nerve compression secondary to cough. This is usually self limiting. Your sore throat, hoarseness and cough could be due to upper respiratory infection.
I recommend the following.
1) A course of antibiotics.
2) Analgesic like tablet paracetamol.
3) Salt water gargling. Add a pinch of salt to a glass of warm water.
4) Plenty of water to prevent dehydration.
5) An expectorant cough syrup if cough is associated with sputum.
6) If it is a dry cough I recommend cough syrup containing dextromethorphine, phenylephrine, chlorpheniramine maleate.
You will be fine.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any questions, I am happy to help.
Wish you a good health and speedy recovery.
