Question : I started taking 150 mg of wellbutrin 2 days ago. last night I had tingling all over my body. I took the pill early in the day the tingling started around 11pm. I also had eaten quite a spicy meal last night. if this is attributed to the wellbutrin is it harmful?

Brief Answer:
You should continue the medication

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

The effects you described are referred to as paresthesia which occur in up to 2 percent of patients taking Wellbutrin (Bupropion). This is not a serious side effect and usually subsides gradually within a week or so. You should continue the medication. There is no need to stop it based on paresthesia alone.

Let me know if you need any clarification

Wishing you best of health

Thanks

Explained

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.

Yes, twitching can occur in roughly 1 to 2 percent of the patients taking bupropion.
Tremors can occur in up to 6 percent of patients.

Twitching will also subside within a week. However , if it persists then calcium levels can be checked as hypocalcemia can cause such twitching among other causes and dose of wellbutrin can be considered for lowering.
