What Causes Tiredness After Using CPAP?

default
Posted on Mon, 18 May 2015
Question: Hello, I am looking for a doctor with CPAP and sleep apnea experience who can look at my ResMed S9 data and assist me in determining why I am still tired during the day. If you do not have extensive experience with CPAP and sleep apnea please let me know so I can find a doctor who does. I know a very small number of doctors specialize in sleep apnea

Believe it or not I found the problem to be a leaky mask. I changed the mask and after a few days felt normal again.

Brief Answer:
Leaky mask is a common problem.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the follow up info. After going through the info, I would like to comment the following:

1. Its nice to know that your problem has been located.
2. Leaky masks are one of the common problems. Usually the niv provider provides full after sales support and any technical issues in the niv can be inspected by them prior to informing your healthcare providers. Mask leakage can be usually picked up on direct observation during NIV ventilation or by the observation of the automated machine reports. Now a days the NIV machines themselves have the option to check for leakage in the machine menu.
3. Silicon gel masks are a good option for niv and prior to using the device, the comfort level of the patient with the mask type is an important factor for long term compliance.

I will be glad to answer follow up queries if any. Please accept my answer if you have no follow up queries.
