What Causes Toe Numbness With Pain In The Ball Of The Foot?

I have a numbness in my left small toe and mild to moderate pain in the ball of my foot, in the center. I am convinced the numbness is due to the pain in the ball joint. I never go barefoot, except in bed.
In 1991 I had a deep vein thrombosis in that leg and I wear 30-40 mg support socks. I have no swelling in my legs or in my feet.
I did not stub my toe/foot nor did I do any strenuous walking yesterday.
I am a 78 year old male in good health.
Should I see a doctor? Should I be concerned?
Plantar fascitis
Detailed Answer:
Hi there
Thanks for the query
You could be having symptoms of Plantar fascitis with possible Morton neuralgia.
Nothing to be concerned about.
Eat healthy. Keep well hydrated. Exercise regularly to keep fit. Use MCR or Microcellular rubber footwear available at medical stores.
Perform plantar fascia and calf muscle stretching exercises by a trained Physiotherapist. Dip your feet in warm water with added salt and perform foot and ankle movements.
You can take Tablet Ibuprofen 400mg twice a day for 5 days.
Try these measures for a week. If you do not benefit then you can see a Doctor.
I hope I have answered your query.
I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Dr. Aashish Raghu
