Actually tooth cavities are caused by increased sugar intake, snacks between meals and improper cleaning of tooth.
You should also modify your fooding habits to prevent caries. Even you should use mouthwashes for rinsing teeth after brushing. It will also help in prevention.
Smoking habit does not causes any caries, but it will definitely cause changes inside your mouth, so better to leave this habit.
And even visit your dentist and get the cavities restored.
