What Causes Tremors, Muscle Cramps, Poor Balance And Dizziness While On Coversyl Plus?

Question: Hi, I am on Cloversyl plus, have been for about six weeks. All was good for the first month, over last two weeks have had tremors, muscle weakness and cramping, poor balance at times, dizzy, weak very tired tho sleeping well. Dry itchy skin, cold all the time, SoB at times, dry cough, nausea. Today has been the worst with almost all those symptoms as well as dry mouth with a bad taste in my mouth. Any thoughts?

Thanks for sharing your concerns. Based on the history you have shared, it seems due to be drug induced, as it has got combination of two drugs. One is a diuretic and cause electrolytes imbalance which can lead to tremors, muscle cramps, poor balance and dizziness. It can also be due to over treatment of blood pressure eating to hypotension.

The skin itching, shortness of breath and dry cough can be due to other part of the drug combination which leads to ACE blockage and is known to cause angioedema and dry cough.

Please with hold the drug and consult your doctor at the earliest and get steroid and anti histamines shots at the earliest of these findings are confirmed. Also get electrolytes levels tested.
