Question : I have been taking endep 50 for many years, following a bka. current dosage is 1 (one) tab in the evening. I am having trouble sleeping and feel anxious at times. would it be in order to increase from one to two tablets per day ?

Hello, Welcome to Health Care Magic

I can understand your concern. Endep is Amitryptiline and the drug is used in a number of cases for sleep. Doses of 50 mg are fine for sleep, but if you are not getting good sleep with that doses then you can discuss with your doctor to increase the doses to 75 mg per day (prefrrably in sustained release form). This would result in good sleep. If sleep is only problem then other medicines which are similar to Endep and are not dependence producing can be used. Drugs like Trazodon or Mirtazapine can help in good sleep. Mirtazapine would be relatively safer for heart also. Visit your psychiatrist for prescription and evaluation.
