What Causes Twitching Near Mouth And Thumb?

I have lately been experiencing what a guess ie nerve movement in the area around my mouth and mainly my lips. That will go on for awhile and then I will have the seem sort of twitches in my thumbs. The only medicines that I take are compounded thyroid T 3 and T4 and I take 5000 units of Vitamin D most days because the D was low. What could be causing these uncontrollable twitches?
Thank you
May be benign or related to vitamin D deficiency
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Since Dr. XXXXXXX is not available I am answering your query.
The twitching( fasciculations) you experience can have several causes. In you, the most probable cause is Vitamin D deficiency and the low ionized calcium in the blood because of the same.
The other common causes which may co-exist are
Excessive consumption of caffeinated beverages or stimulants
Stress
Myokimia -Twitches not caused by disease or disorders (benign twitches)
Often affecting the eyelids, calf, or thumb
These are often triggered by stress or anxiety
They come and go, and do not last for more than a few days.
If they last long, these twitches have to be investigated.
If you have further queries, I shall be happy to answer them
