What Causes Two Small Red Spots On Soft Palate Area?

default
Posted on Sat, 13 Sep 2014
Question: Hi Just got back from changing Doctors because the one I had has closed his practice do to his personal medical issues. I did a normal check up with a nurse practitioner. The Doctor wasn't at the visit with him becuase there are so many people transferring from the Doctor I was speaking of. Anyway he looked in my mouth with the little light thingy and said there are two small red spots on my soft palette area. He asked me if I had any pain and I said no. We looked in the mirror and sure enough there were two red (what I would describe as splotches) on my pallet area. Very small. One a little bigger width than the other but both very small. they look almost like bruises but red. If I had seen them by myself I probably wouldnt have thought much of them. I have seen things in my mouth before and they always vanish. He seems to think I needed to to go to an oral surgeon. But I felt his reaction seemed more than I was concerned about it. Does it sound like anything serious?

Brief Answer:
suspect nothing serious

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using Healthcare Magic. My suspicion is this is nothing serious and the PA was just being over cautious. It's possible it's related to the oral sex but can't be certain. That seems more likely than anything serious. If you're otherwise feeling well and having no other symptoms, I would just keep on eye on it and be sure it vanishes like the other lesions you've had. Obviously if it's not going away, getting worse, or more spots are developing, you'd want to have it looked at again. But I think it's too early to pursue further evaluation with an oral surgeon.

Hope this answers your query. If you have further questions, I'd be happy to answer them.
