Posted on Fri, 9 Jan 2015
Question: I have been taking prolomet 25xl, ismo20, betaloc 150, prax 10 for the last 13 months after my 2nd angioplasty. For the last 15 days my bp is ranging between 105-160 and I feel chest heavyness also sometimes. I continued my morning walks of 5-6 km. but after that I feel tired. Pls advise whether I have to change my medicines. Besides the above dose I take Ecosprin150, atorvastin, betaloc150, Ismo20 before going to sleep also

Brief Answer:
Hypertension and coronary artery disease

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Prolomet 25 XL contains 25mg of Metoprolol. Betaloc also contains Metoprolol .It is not clear why you have been prescribed same beta-blockers twice.
Since your BP is 160/105 i.e not adequately controlled ,you should take ACEI (angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitor) e. g. Ramipril ( standard dose 5 mg once daily) and in place of betaloc 500/150 ,more logical prescription would be Prolomet 50 XL once daily.
Otherwise,Ismo 20mg twice a day,Nicorandil 5 mg twice a day,Rosuvastatin 40 mg once daily,Prasugrel 10 mg once daily,Ecosprin 150 mg once daily,Pan 40 mg once daily are quite standard prescription.
