Brief Answer:
reflux and side effect of medication most common causes

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Bitter taste in the mouth can be due to different possible causes including the following: (1) side effect of medication-

this may include multivitamins and some traditional medications.
In terms of the multivitamins, some of the heavy metals can cause abnormal taste

Amlodipine can cause distortion of taste in a very small minority of persons, less than 0.1%.
Abnormal taste is not a known side effect of atorvastatin.

(2) reflux is one of the more common causes- if you have a history of reflux then this is the likely cause

Using reflux medication and changing the diet would help. Eg of reflux medication include prevacid, protonix, prilosec, nexium

(3)gum infection

(4)in some persons sinus disease or the presence of a cough/cold can distort taste

These are the more common causes, british medical journal (BMJ ) and journal of neurology, neurosurgery and psychiatry report 2 very very rare cases, where the bitter taste occurred in 2 persons with ALS (lou gerhrig).
This is an extremely rare cause.

Side effect of medication/supplements and/or reflux are more likely.

You can consider reflux medication as an initial treatment even if you do not have the other typical symptoms.

If there is no improvement after a few days then may need to determine if related to one of the medications/supplement

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
