Question : I have an urgency to urinate and when I do hardly any thing comes out. I also can't control it at times and it soils my underwater. I recently hade a sinus infection and was given Zithromax for five days. I finished taking them a week ago Wednesday. Is it a yeast infection? I have been off the Zithromax for ten days.

Features like burning sensation on urination, urgency, increased frequency of urination etc indicates urinary tract infection which is usually bacterial.Fungal UTI is very rare and is seen only in individuals with debilitating diseases or immunodeficiency.

After confirming the diagnosis by a urine routine test,this can be treated with antibiotics like norfloxacin or cefixime for a few days. Your doctor will guide you.

Meanwhile, drink plenty of oral fluids.
