What Causes Urinary Retention With Stinging Pain, Bloating And Lower Abdomen Pain?

default
Posted on Wed, 8 Jun 2016
Question: for the past 2 days I have been getting frequent urges to urinate, and have to hurry to the bathroom, but then nothing happens except a stinging pain. My stomach is bloating. If I apply pressure to my lower stomach I feel the same stinging sensation as I do when I try to urinate.

Brief Answer:
may be an urinary tract infection

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Based on the symptoms described, it is possible that you have an urinary tract infection.

This would cause frequency, discomfort in the genitalia region, abdominal pain.
Bloating is not a common symptom but it is possible.

Urinary tract infections can involve any aspect of the urinary tract including the bladder, urethra, ureter, kidney, prostate

Diagnosis would require examination by your doctor as well as an urine analysis both in the office just to confirm the infection and possibly urine can be sent to a lab as well.
The lab would be able to identify the specific bacteria that is present.

Antibiotics would be needed if it is confirmed.

In some cases, some sexually transmitted infections can also cause these symptoms, this can be ruled out if this is a possibility.

Most urinary tract infections and sexually transmitted infections can be easily treated.
