Question: I have taken postinor 2 after unprotected sex on 30/8/15. Now on 5/9/15, i had bleeding which seems like my normal menses. However, my last period was on 18/8/15. What is this bleeding considered and is it safe?

Brief Answer:
Breakthrough bleeding, common in ECPs

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. With history of progesterone intake ( Levonorgestrel / postinor) after unprotected sex followed by a bleeding like menses after 2 weeks of last menses is what we call a breakthrough bleed and is common in users of these contraceptive pills with progestins. new users of pills are more likely to get it.

All you need to do is note it, if you use OCPs apart fromt hese Emergency contraception and have taken taken 21 active of OCPs then quit for a few days and start a new pack ,If not then continue the 21 days of active pills. If you don't take OCPs ignore these few lines and nothing else needs to be done. stop smoking if you do and move on as it is innocuous and happens all the time.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
