What Causes Vaginal Bleeding And Spotting While On Mirena IUD?

Question: Hi i had sex last friday on the 8th. Monday night, i noticed a little bit of bleeding. And ive been spotting since monday night. It goes from dark brown to light brown. We used a condom and i am currently on the iud mirena. What could this be?

I am so sorry to hear about this spotting you have reported. I have reviewed your information fully and you probably sustained a minor tear during this encounter. For now, monitor only. Put on protective pant liners and monitor only. This will subside spontaneous. Please, do not regularly try to do vaginal douche as this will prevent the tear from healing faster. Do you feel any slight pain in the vaginal as well?

I have no other pain in the vaginal area. I did have a few cramps associated with the bleeding the first couple of days. The possibility of pregnancy is less than 1% correct?

Could it be spotting from ovulating? I had my period December 30-January 5.
