Question : I had my last period at 58 yrs. I am now 66 and is having spotting /bleeding from the vagina for 3 days now. I have the discomforts in my stomach as I used to have when I usually have my periods. What is probably the cause of this bleeding?

Brief Answer:
post menopausal bleeding

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to HCM,
This is post menopausal bleeding AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED WITH A pap smear and HPV DNA contesting to rule out any cervical cancer changes. Another possibility could be endometrial cancer or hyperplasia and even VAIN ( vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia).
Please get a per speculum examination and an ultrasound pelvis done with your gynecologist. You should not be bleeding after attainment of menopause.
