Question : I am a very healthy 70 year old woman who is often taken for someone ten to fifteen younger. I am very careful what I eat, such as, no sugar, no white flour-----basically organic vegetables and some organic meat. I have never been on prescription drugs except to get rid of a cold, but this is very rare occurance. I also never drink alcohol and have never smoked. I also take several short walks a day. I am semi retired still working in a preschool.
Something new has just happened to me . . . . I am experiencing a menstrual period! I have only had it for a day but I am feeling crampy, just the way I used to when I was younger, as well as some brown discharge. Not much but enough to wear a light pad. My last period was when I was in my mid fifties. Should I be concerned?

Brief Answer:
Needs investigations to find out the cause.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Having a vaginal bleeding after so many years is worrisome. It is not due to periods. This can be related to vaginal dryness or an endometrial or cervical pathology. It is best to consult your gynecologist for a detailed examination and a few investigations to find out the cause.
