Brief Answer:
Hernia or twitching muscle can be the reason.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Vibration in lower abdomen can be caused by a gas in intestines or muscle twitching.
Gas in intestine can be sensed in case of inguinal hernia or if your abdominal wall is thin (if you are slim person). Hernia can give also some discomfort or pain when coughing. A lump in groin area can be palpated.

Twitching muscle can be caused by ions deficiency (Magnesium and Potassium). This is more possible if you drink lots of coffee or caffeinated drinks.

I suggest you to have abdominal ultrasound done. If hernia seems possible, this should be visible in ultrasound.
If twitching muscle sounds possible, start Magnesium and Potassium supplementation.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

I've also had a period lasting for 7 days now, while on active birth control. Could this be related?

Brief Answer:
Yes, it can be related.

Detailed Answer:
Yes, it can be related. Ovaries issue like a cyst can also be the reason. In such case you should consult gynecologist and have transvaginal ultrasound.

Regards.
