Question: what does it mean if i see lines in front of my eyes? it's hard to describe, but it's not spots i'm seeing, it's lines or geometric shapes, is the best way i can describe it. it starts out small, gets larger then disappears. i don't experience any other symptom during that time and it lasts maybe 20 minutes total. my vision is slightly blurred because of the lines and then it returns to normal when the lines go away.

Brief Answer:
Atypical migraine

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
Such visual phenomenon occurring for a short period of time, not accompanying any nausea or vomiting, may occur in migraine. What you will notice that there may be only one side of vision involved,if it is right side of right eye then it will be right side of left eye as well and if you see with one eye closed then these lines shift from centre to outside.
These may occur after a irregular time gap of a week or two,may be followed by heaviness on the opposite of head.
There are no diagnostic tests and diagnosis can only be made by history.
Do get back to me if there are any further queries in this regard.
