Brief Answer:
Gastritis. Anti-emetic, Mucaine Gel, avoid colas, bland diet later.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. You have developed gastritis. This may be due to the cough syrup, if it is an expectorant cough syrup or this is a viral gastritis from the swallowed mucus after a bad cough and sore throat. If you do not have fever, the throat symptoms and cough may be due to the gastritis itself.

2. Get a prescription for an anti-emetic (such as onedsetron) to stop the retching and vomiting. Mucaine Gel suspension (or it's equivalent) will help.

3. Avoid colas, try cold milk after this treatment or just sips of plain water an hour after this medication. Oral rehydration Syrup (ORS) should be useful.

4. Small portions of a bland diet can be tried if you can tolerate the liquids. If this persists for more than a day or two, seek medical attention.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
