Brief Answer:
different possible causes

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

There are different possible causes for intermittent nausea and vomiting. The most common are: (1) gastroesophageal reflux disease- some persons do not have typical symptoms of reflux but only have nausea and vomiting. The other symptoms are burning in the chest, acid taste in the mouth, bloating

(2) gastric stasis- this is where the contents of the stomach do not move out into the intestines as fast as they should resulting in nausea and vomiting

This can occur as a result- diabetes, side effect of medication, due to a tumor

(3)As a result of a mass obstructing the stomach or bowel- in this case there would normally be other symptoms such as weight loss, loss of appetite, constipation, blood in stool

(4)Vertigo and dizziness can also cause nausea and vomiting

(5)chemicals/metabolic causes- abnormal electrolytes such as calcium

(6)anxiety

(7)food intolerance

Your doctor may want to consider treating for GERD first, unless there are symptoms indicating any of the other causes. GERD is one of the more common.
This would involve lifestyle changes and the use of medication.

Lifestyle changes involve using small meals and limiting the use of spicy/acidic/fatty or fried foods.

Examples of medications are prilosec, prevacid, nexium, protonix

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
