What Causes Vomiting And Stomach Pain After Taking Lipo?

default
Posted on Tue, 2 Sep 2014
Question: Hi, I am 5'10'' with weight 204lbs. I have been taking Lipo 6 for 15 days one capsule a day (it mentions 6 a day on the product), along with working out (running, weights). Few days back I vomited, and had a bad stomach since (belching, nausea, loose motions). My doc asked me to go through a liver test. SGPT came out as 89.0 IU/L, and SGOT as 56.0 IU/L. I need to know if these are potentially caused by Lipo 6. The current medication I am taking has helped with all the symptoms. The physician wasnt aware of Lipo6 and the side effects it could have. Have stopped taking lipo6 for now.

Brief Answer:
Probably the cause, discontinue use till better

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
Thanks for writing into healthcare magic. My name is Dr Suresh and I will attempt to answer your question today.

Let me start off by congratulating you on taking the initiative for losing weight. I am so sorry that you are suffering these symptoms. Lipo 6 contains various pharmacologically active ingredients which act as appetite suppressants and also increase fat metabolism by the liver. I understand that you are taking only one capsule a day (gradually increase to six capsules / day as per the instructions). Different people have different sensitivities to the contents of Lipo 6, especially the caffeine and synephrine. This is the reason why you gradually increase the number of capsules - to check if your body can handle it.

The symptoms you are describing (nausea, Loose motions) can be attributed to the active ingredients in the supplement. This means that it would be wise to discontinue its use till you feel better. Most drugs gets deactivated by the liver. An increase in SGPT and SGOT suggests liver cell damage. Unless proven other wise (rule out infections like Hepatitis), we should consider Lipo 6 as the potential cause of your liver damage.

So kindly consider discontinuing use of Lipo 6, but do continue your exercises and healthy diet according to plan. I would also advise checking your bloods again in about a week to see if they have normalized.

Hope this helped and hope you start feeling better. Please do not hesitate to contact me for further details.

Brief Answer:
Avoid fatty foods

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX
Thank you for getting back to me. I hope you are feeling better since you last wrote. Although there are no specific foods which will help heal the liver, I would definitely advice you to stay away from fatty food (fried or otherwise) as it taxes the liver. Also Alcohol in any form is a definite no-no till the liver enzymes get back to normal. A healthy dose of fresh fruits will definitely help.

Please do let me know if you have any further questions.
It has been a pleasure consulting for you.

I hope you feel well and continue on your initiative to attain a healthy wait.
Have a good day.

Dr Suresh Rahavaiah
