What Causes Vomiting Sensation And Loss Of Appetite While Having Jaundice?

Posted on Tue, 14 Jun 2016
Question: Hi, I am XXXXXXX XXXX, I was diagnosed with hepatitis B ie jaundice on 1 XXXXXXX 2016. I felt vomiiting sensations and loss of apetite. At that time my bilirubin count was 5.2 and SGPT 2900 whereas HBV(Hepatitis b virus) count was 480. I was on total bedrest for 1 month and I preferred bland diet completely. By 15 feb 2016 my bilirubin came down below 1 and SGPT 57. I started normal walking and routine exercises but i still kept on boiled water and very less fried food that also in olive oil. I avoided my running and gymming exercises since 1 XXXXXXX 2016. In the month of march and april 2016 i had a number of LFTS in which every report showed normal bilirubin around 0.3 and AST ,ALT counts near to 40. I also started taking some restaurant foods but i was fine and LFTS were perfectly normal. Finally after almst 4 months i started running and gymming 3 days before, that also not very heavy only 3 kms running and little bit exercises . But from last 2 days again i feel the same vomitting sensations and loss of apetite. I felt 4 mnths rest is good enough. so is this due to workout that the previous symptoms are repeating from 2 days ???? i hav to join army training in next 1 month...please advise me what can i do regarding my workout and diet ??? can I do workout in next 5-7 days to get my body fit for army training starting next month ??

Brief Answer:
Please detail the treatment regimen and the investigation details.

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Before answering your queries there are certain other things to consider. You mention that the viral load of Hepatitis B in your case is 480. I would insist you to upload the report for the same. I would also insist you to upload the other tests like HBeAg or HBsAg that are likely to have been tested in the process.

The next thing to ask is whether you are on medication. Several antiviral medications - including lamivudine (Epivir), adefovir (Hepsera), telbivudine (Tyzeka) and entecavir (Baraclude) - can help fight the virus and slow its ability to damage your liver. If left on its own, it is likely to proceed to chronic hepatitis. Going through the following link should help:
http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hepatitis-b/basics/treatment/con-0000

As such there should be no definite restriction on your workout. Diet should be low in fat but otherwise normal. The rationale behind boiled water is to prevent further waterborne infections. However, I would not speak in its favour. You can use also drink packed mineral water or water from Aquaguard or other filters.

The answer to the remaining portion of your query will depend upon the details and I would await your response.

Hello sir,
I did HBsAg test in first week of january and on 21 XXXXXXX 2016 I was tested for HBeAg, Anti-HBe and HBV (viral load). I am uploading these reports in sequential manner.
Secondly since my viral load was below 2000 , I was tested HBeAg negative stating I m not a carrier and also I was Anti-HBe positive stating that infection is under resolution, my doctor advised me not to take any antiviral medication since I was recovering well.
Also from FEB-APRIL 2016 i was well, fit and all my LFT reports were perfectly normal even till last week when i performed my last LFT.

So I request you to tell me that whether is this the workout which i did 3 days back which has caused me this repititon of symptoms like vomitting and loss of apetite???
and also whether can i start physical exercises like running to join military next month ???

Brief Answer:
Should not be a cause for concern.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for clarifying and for providing the reports. Since you are in a recovering stage and since the viral load is not high I do not see a problem with the workout. I do not see a correlation with the vomiting.

Remain under periodic follow up with your doctor.
