What Causes Vomiting?

default
Posted on Tue, 7 Oct 2014
Question: Hello. My 23 year old daughter has thrown up 4 times since 5 am. I gave her camomile tea and some 7 up about 1 hour apart. She threw that up also. Help. Thank you.

Last evening she had a huge helping of salad that contained refried beans, avocado, sour cream and shredded cheese. Before bed she had more avocado cheese and sour cream.

Detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

The most probable reason of her symptoms is food poisoning (bacterial or viral infection of gastrointestinal tract). Most of such infections gets healed by its own and no medical attention is necessary.
First of all she should avoid any solid foods for next 12 hours. She should start probiotic intake and drink plenty of liquids (warm tea and water, no soda, no carbonated drinks). After 12 hours she should start with soft diet (soup, boiled meat, rice).
If even with such diet, vomiting will be still present, she should consult a doctor and have some tests done.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
