What Causes Warts In The Anus Area Post Delivery?

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Jun 2016
Question: I recently had gone through child birth, delivery was normal, except 5 stitches at nearby vaginal area.
Since then, I have developed warts at anus area (3 Nos). I am not sure whether they are just warts or fistula in ano. They are at the opening of anus only. There is no pain or puss there yet.
Should I consult a gynecologist or dermatologist? Or any other specialist?

Brief Answer:
Postpartum hemorrhoids

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for your query.
I'm Dr. Shuba Hariprasad and will be answering your query today.

Your description of the symptoms could possibly indicate small hemorrhoids. These can occur after vaginal delivery.
Pregnancy itself can increase risk of developing hemorrhoids.
Size and symptoms vary between individuals
These are usually treated by a General surgeon.

Most don't need treatment except for symptomatic ones (to relieve itching, pain). If too big/bleeds, surgery will be required to treat it.

A fissure in ano usually presents as a bleed while passing stools (constipation or hard stools).

Warts would need excision and tissue examination. This too would be done by a general surgeon.

I recommend that your consult a general surgeon to confirm diagnosis.
Treatment would be based on severity.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I would be happy,
Dr. Shuba Hariprasad to help.

Wish you good health.

thanks doctor.
we have referred a general physician and he told that it is the case of hemorrhoids and not much serious. He has suggested to take sitz bath with Betadine solution 2-3 times a day and eating fibrous food.
any further advise from your side?

Brief Answer:
Avoid constipation or straining to pass stools

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for the follow up.

Nothing much to add from my side.
Avoid continuous sitting.
Once fit to exercise, should strengthen core body and pelvic muscles (kegels) specifically in addition to general body exercise. Remember to do exercise in moderation and gradually increase intensity.

A diet rich in fiber should be accompanied by adequate Hydration. Constipation and straining to pass stools should be avoided.

Am glad to hear that it is only mild.

Hope I've helped.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Best wishes,
Regards,
Dr. Shuba Hariprasad
