What Causes Weak And Brittle Teeth After Root Canal Treatment?

Question: i had a root canal awhile back, never got a crown and the tooth came out in pieces but the roots are still inside my gums, i have an appointment thursday, is there anything i need worry about like infection?

No infection chances go for extraction if needed

Hi

Thanks for writing in.

After root canal treatment teeth become weak & brittle, hence capping is advised.
If you don't go for capping then tooth fractures as happened in your case.
In such case if RCT is proper then chances of infection are very rare.
Ideally you should go for X-Ray of same tooth & if there is no infection & sufficient tooth structure is left for post & core then go for it followed by capping.

Second option is extraction that will be decided after your x-rays.
You may send me your X- ray for further discussion.
