Brief Answer: Though not serious, a close observation is needed. Detailed Answer: Hi XXXX! Good afternoon. This is Dr Shareef answering your query. It is nice to see your concern about your friend's health. Although the dose of about > 3.5 gms is quite more than the usual dose recommended, as it is already 45 hours past, we have to observe your friend closely. If I were your doctor, I would have advised him for a routine blood check up like a complete blood count, a blood sugar level, liver function tests including HbSAg test , blood urea, serum creatinine, and a routine urine test. If the reports of the above tests come out to be normal, there is possibly nothing to be much worried. However, if he develops any vomitings, or any blood in the vomitus, or yellowish discoloration of urine or sclera, then he has to report to the ER of the nearest hospital at that time. For the present, I would suggest a proton pump inhibitor, some kind of antacid gel like Mucaine gel or the like, a multi vitamin and possibly a liver tonic like Sorbilene or Livina or the like. If the pain abdomen is much, then I would add an anti spasmodic as well. On the dietary front, he should go for a bland diet without any oil or fried food. Let him go for more of roughage and enough liquids, fresh fruits, and glucose with lemon water drinks which are liver supportive.I hope with this regimen, your friend will gradually recover. I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts. Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.

Brief Answer: Do not require a specialist at the present moment. Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXXXX ! Good afternoon. Good to listen from you and it is nice to learn that you have done all the tests which shows the genuine concern of yours for your friend. The results of the tests can be verified by the general physician (with MBBS qualification) as these are very common day to day tests. In case your general physician suggests you to visit a specialist , you could do that. Thanks and take care. Dr Shareef.
