Brief Answer:
Flu-like symptoms with cloudy urine

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

Flu-like symptoms and cloudy urine point towards infection.
Infections anywhere in the urinary tract can cause blood and pus to appear in the urine, giving it a cloudy appearance. In women with vaginitis (such as yeast vaginitis), the vaginal discharge may sometimes contaminate the urine sample, making the urine appear cloudy.

A lump under the left rib cage in your case may be related to left kidney. You need to undergo complete blood count, urine routine analysis and culture/sensitivity. Since it is about a month and not responding to antibiotic(must be first-line), possibility of chronic infection like TB needs to be ruled out. Please let me know report of all investigations so far done and ultrasound abdomen report to arrive a reasonable conclusion..

Brief Answer:
Elevated white cell count

Detailed Answer:
Elevated white cell count goes more in favor of a bacterial infection involving urinary tract. It is all the more reason that you should undergo urine routine analysis and culture/sensitivity test to find out the causative organism and the antibiotic to which it is sensitive. Most likely the causative organism is resistant to the antibiotic which you have been given so far and hence the lack of response.

Could you go more in-depth about which or what type of bacterial infection I could have?

Answered by Dr. Tushar Kanti Biswas (16 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Type of bacteria causing urinary infection

Detailed Answer:
E. coli remains the predominant organism, but other aerobic gram-negative rods, such as Klebsiella species, Proteus species, Citrobacter species, Acinetobacter species, Morganella species, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, also are frequently isolated in uncomplicated urinary tract infection.
Gram-positive bacteria (e.g., enterococci and Staphylococcus aureus), and yeasts are also important pathogens in complicated UTI.
A mid-stream morning urine sample in a sterile container should be given for culture sensitivity.
