Question : 79-year-old husband felt weak Friday during gym, completed 2-hour routine, regardless. Saturday, today, vacillating between chills/fever. No other symptoms. Temp yesterday l02. Temp now orally ONE POINT SHY of l04, rectally, ONE POINT SHY of l05. Administered 2 aspirins about 45 minutes ago. Encouraging intake of water.

I have read your query and understand your concern.
Although most of the fevers of such type are generally viral in nature but it can be due to various other reasons like malaria or dengue or may be infections of ear,throat,lung,kidney,bladder etc.
Your husband needs to be clinically examined and subjected to investigations like CBC,investigations for malaria and dengue and other relevant investigations depending upon the development of any particular symptom.
I would advise you to consult your physician or may even go to ER since fever is high.
Things to do till you consult a doctor are....
Plenty of water intake
Take paracetamol or Tylenol instead of aspirin and it can be related every 4-5 hours.
Water sponging so as not to let the fever increase.
