What Causes Weight Gain And Scanty Menstrual Flow While On Crisanta-LS?

Question: My wife started taking contra septic pill for last 3 months (we have a baby of 3 years, and married for last 5 years). The brand is Cresanta-LS. Before taking this pill we use condom as birth control.
Before taking the pill she used to have 5-6 days of regular flow(3 days heavy and last 3/4 days scanty). But after taking the pill she used to have 2/3 days of scanty flow. Also she has put some weight after taking the pills.
Is this normal?

Brief Answer:
common side effects of OC pills.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concerns for your wife.
Weight gain and scanty flow are the common side effects of oral contraceptive (OC) pills.
Do not worry as this commonly occurs after taking OC pills.
She should try to avoid fatty food. She can go for a regular morning walk.
This will prevent weight gain.
If she still doesnt feel comfortable with OC pills, she can opt for inta-uterine contraceptive devices (IUCD) like Copper-T.
Kindly discuss this with your doctor.
Hope this helps.
Feel free to ask further.
Take care.
Regards.
