Question : i have weight gain in the abdomen after umbilical hernia surgery, is this normal and will it decrease on its own?
Brief Answer:
It is not normal!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Weight gain after umbilical hernia repair is not normal. If this has been a rapid increase in your weight, then we would have to look at the possible causes. The possible causes may not be related to surgery as this is a very minor procedure with minimal risk of damage to internal organs.
For now, I will like to know how much weight you have put on and over what time period. If there are any other concerns, mention them to me. I will use all of these before concluding on possible treatment options.
I hope to hear from you at your earliest convenience. I wish you well.
