What Causes Wet Sensation And Pain In The Ear?

Posted on Thu, 12 Jan 2017
Question: Hello my left ear about three-four weeks ago started feeling like it was wet inside and sometimes a cold feeling. It started this when i was on a dose of antibiotics for my sinuses about like i said 3-4 weeks ago. Only my left not right. I had sinus surgery 1.5 years ago for alot of mucus and post drip. Its helped alot but at times turns greenish but antibiotics controlls it for the most part. I was doing one to two nasal flushes a day and am wondering did i somehow get water backed up from the flushes? The ear has only hurts for a few seconds and maybe only one or two days out of the three weeks or so has it had any discomfort. Mostly just annoying and not all day everyday but most of the day it feels wet or a little colder inside then my right ear.

Need more information about ear pain and wetness.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for your query. In my opinion, you might be having fungal infection of the left ear , which makes u feel wet and pain sometimes. Sinus douching can cause ear blockage and ear pain. I would need more information on nature and duration of ear pain and wetness. Do you have ear blockage also? If I were your treating doctor, I would have first examined you clinically, cleaned the fungal debris, and then prescribed anti fungal ear drops and cephalosporin group of antibiotics. Empirically you can take a anti inflamatory medicines like paracetamol + diclofenac combination drugs twice daily.if symptoms persists consult with the doctor and get evaluated properly. Hope I have answered your question. Thank u.

No blockage just a wet feeling at times. Its feels like water is in there. I see my ENT next tuesday so i will ask. Could it be water trapped behind my estachian tube from the nasal flushes. I was doing them quite a bit. Also if there is a fungus that sounds very bad! How is it treated?
