What Causes Wheezing Along With Breathlessness?

default
Posted on Mon, 10 Feb 2014
Question: Hi, I've been having a problem breathing for a while now. I start hearing a wheezing noise when exhaling and a kind of clogged feeling somewhere down my throat. It always happens after i've been walking for more than 15 minutes but it sometimes happens when i'm just sitting at home after work or when i wake up. A rapid and forceful exhalation stops it for a while but sometimes it flares up to the point where i'm wheezing when both exhaling and inhaling, even when breathing through my nose

Brief Answer: You need a ENT and Chest examination. Detailed Answer: Hi, I appreciate your concern. Wheezing alongwith breathlessness is most likely due to Bronchospasm due to underlying Bronchial Asthma or Nasobronchial Allergy. I would advisce you to get a ENT and Chest examination . You might need investigation like EKG, Chest X Ray, Blood Counts and allergy screening. Are you on any antihypertensive or cardiac medications? Meanwhile you can try taking antiallergics , bronchodilators and steam inhalation. Kindly ask , in case of any query. Hope it helps.
