What Causes White/grey Discharge From Penis Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 9 Jul 2014
Question: My symptoms where a white/grey discharge. This was painful the first time and one more time after that and also more noticeable in the morning. No pain when peeing bit irratation after peeing and had to pee quite frequently. I have had 3 swabs and 3 urine tests for anything they could find. All came back negative. The clinic said my tubes on my left side of my testicles where swollen and they where tender to touch. Epidydmititis was diagnosed and i was given some ofloxacin. Would i have anything else. My head is in bits and i went for a hiv prick test. This was at 60 days after the sex i had with a work colleague. This was negative and the doctor stands by this as a negative result. My GP says i am extremly low risk for hiv and he isnt worried so i shouldnt be. I no longer have a discharge but my penis is uncomfortable. Still red around the uretha. My left testicle has a cyst and the pain on the under side of my groin on the left side. Gets worse when i stand around.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

The white/grey discharge is indicating genital infection, which is confirmed: "epidymitis" treated with ofloxacin (which is an antibiotic). Irritation you got and redness of urethra are also related to the bacterial infection. I suggest to discuss with your doctor for possible fungal infection of your genitalia to get treated properly. Lab tests (seminal fluid culture for fungus is recommended).

Usually, male infections like epidymitis are difficult to treat and need repetitive course of antibiotics.

Apart ofloxacin, I suggest to :
- take acetaminophen or other anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce inflammation
- usually, I recommend my patients to stay in bed until improvement. As the pain gets worse when you stand around, that is indicating that you need to get some rest for a couple of days.
- apply cold compresses (including ice) locally
- raise your scrotum when lying down by putting a towel under the scrotum
- avoid having sexual intercourse until improvement.
- get regular urine analysis to exclude urinary tract infection
- if not circumcised, discuss with your urologist about circumcision

Hope it was of help! Let me know if I can assist you further!
