Brief Answer:
Pseudo membranous colitis caused by Clostridium difficle infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

Infection most likely to cause white spots in the colon as seen in colonoscopy, is due to Clostridium difficle infection. Clostridium difficle is a bacterial infection affection the large intestine. White spots seen in colonoscopy are due to the membranes caused by the toxins released by the bacteria and dead cells. The diagnosis can be confirmed with stool toxin and PCR analysis.
Treatment is with antibiotic-Metronidazole.
Also, make sure to stay hydrated. Drink plenty of fluids containing electrolytes like Gatorade.
Take hygiene precautions like washing hands properly, washing utensils used by the patient in hot water to prevent transmission of the infection to others. Older people and young children are especially susceptible to the infection.
