Question : I am a 55 year old male. I just had gallbladder removal surgery on Sept.13th 2017. I’ve noticed that my urine is yellow mostly, and it seems that is harder to urinate now: also a little uncomfortable. Was this caused by anesthesia. Do I need medicine to treat this. I’m also terribly stressed out because of my wife leaving me.

Brief Answer:
Could be due to enlarged Prostate or Narrowing of urethra.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .
Based on the facts that you have posted difficulty in passing urine after Gall Bladder surgery is definitely not related to anesthesia .It is just a coincidence that you have developed this problem after surgery .

I shall be happy if you can post me more details to help me in making precise comments
1) Were you catheterized during surgery and immediate post operative period ?

The yellow color to urine is mostly due to medications and due to less water intake .
The difficulty in urination can be due to
1) Anxiety
2) Narrowing of Urethra resulting due to developing a flimsy stricture of urethra due to catheterization .
3) Enlarge Prostate .
4) Side effect of Anti depressant drugs

Consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
