Question: is there a medical condition that causes a body to build up narcotics or not normally break the narcotics down the way it should? in other wotds, if you're taking your narcotic medication as prescribed, is there any condition that disables normal metabolic breakdown of that medicine or other medications that affect the liver?

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Narcotics are metabolized or broken down in different ways depending on the type used.

There are some narcotics that rely of certain enzyme (chemicals released in the body) pathways.

There are 2 main types of enzyme pathways and one of these pathways (that using cyp34a), is involved in the breakdown of almost 50% of all drugs used in general.

This means that the use of other medications that also need that pathway could affect the levels of the narcotics.

The list of drugs that use this pathway is quite extensive so if you are currently using other medications then they can be crosschecked for potential interaction.
You can either provide the list of medications being used or you can use sites to try and check yourself , if you prefer

In addition, since the majority of breakdown occurs in the liver , liver disease would also have an impact.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
