What Could Be Causing Red Urine While Dealing With Terrible Pain In My Gut And Vomiting?

Question: After eating a scallop, shrimp , and meatball appetizers with friends with some Sauvignon Blanc, I developed a terrible pain in my gut causing me to vomit violently about 4 hours, could not eat dinner nor keep water down ! Felt fine before and have not been sick in a long time! I had terrible pain in the gut about 5 hours total! Then today I noticed my urine was red both times I have urinated, but could not even keep water down! Feel much better today and just ate soup, fresh fruit and a little vanilla ice cream with no problems! The only time I'm ever vomited so badlymwas due to food poisoning at a Chinese restaurant! Was chilled last night but raining and cold . Feel much better today but concerned about red urine! Your thoughts please? Thanks

Your gut symptoms are suggestive of gastrointestinal infection. The discoloration of urine is due to possible Kidney damage. This condition is called hematuria.

It's advisable to get a complete urinary examination along with ultrasound abdomen to determine further course of action.

It's advisable to consider antibiotics at this point of time to minimize gastrointestinal infection (caused by possible food poisoning).

It's advisable to avoid any outside food stuff and to maintain adequate hydration.
