- Muscular- it is caused by neck or shoulder muscles. This pain is dull, continuous, caused by exertion and relieved by rest, massage and hot fomentation.
- Neuropathic- It is caused by compression of cervical nerves. This pain is severe, current like, radiates from neck to shoulder ans associated with numbness.
- Bony- It is caused by cervical vertebrae or scapular disease. This pain is continuous, increased by movement and cold.
