Hello,

there are many causes of neck and shoulder pain-

- Muscular- it is caused by neck or shoulder muscles. This pain is dull, continuous, caused by exertion and relieved by rest, massage and hot fomentation.

- Neuropathic- It is caused by compression of cervical nerves. This pain is severe, current like, radiates from neck to shoulder ans associated with numbness.

- Bony- It is caused by cervical vertebrae or scapular disease. This pain is continuous, increased by movement and cold.

Hello,

To treat it completely, we need a few investigations and history

- X-ray cervical spine -AP and lateral

- X-ray shoulder - AP

- MRI cervical spine

- History about pain duration, type, factors which increase or decrease pain, any numbness, any focal weakness, any history of current like sensation.

Based on these, I can make some diagnosis. After that, I can suggest treatment to treat it properly.
