Question : On the night of the 15th I stubbed the toe next to my pinkie toe and it hurt but I went on my day thinking nothing of it. That night it started to swell and turn a redish purple on the top half of the toe. It also hurt to walk. There was not cut, or open sore, or broken toe nail. I splinted it with surgical tape to my other toe daily and tried not to do too much with it. It stopped hurting on the 17th and I almost forgot about it other than the color is still there. Seems the swelling has come down and the color on the toe is not nearly as deep. However, today on the 19th I have noticed a light bruise on the top of my foot in the general area where the foot connects to the stubbed toe. It is tender to the touch, like a normal bruise, very light, not purple, not bad. I am just concerned why all of the sudden it developed when it wasn't there orginally and it is my foot now and not my toe. Any ideas?
Brief Answer:
Due to collected blood in foot.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The appearance of bruise in the foot is due to the collection of blood that came out due to the injury. The blood sometimes collects in the dependent part causing the color changes. As the pain and swelling has now subsided there is no need to worry.
The bruise will also fade away on its own in a week.
Wishing you good health.
